And he sat down opposite the treasury and watched the people putting money into the offering box. Many rich people put in large sums. And a poor widow came and put in two small copper coins, which make a penny. And he called his disciples to him and said to them, “Truly, I say to you, this poor widow has put in more than all those who are contributing to the offering box. For they all contributed out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty has put in everything she had, all she had to live on.”
Mark 12:41-44
Not Equal Gifts
Equal Sacrifice
This is a season of fasting, praying, and giving a sacrificial gift to the Lord to sow a seed as we petition our Heavenly Father for breakthrough in our individual lives and in the lives of others. We believe God still performs miracles, and He can still do that in your life!
Sowing Your Seed Into The Kingdom of God
The History of the New Beginnings Offering
In December 2001, the church held its first special offering called The Chest of Joash. In the Old Testament, the Godly King Joash called for the people to bring an offering to help with repairs in the Temple. Our church followed the example of King Joash that year and began a tradition in our church that surrounded the Chest of Joash offering. During the offering time each year, we challenged our church to give a sacrificial gift with grateful hearts to the Lord. We also encouraged our families to bring their petitions to God. It has been a very sweet and reverent time of prayer and giving for our church. Through the years, God has faithfully shown His love to us and answered hundreds of prayers and petitions brought to Him in a season of sacrificial giving.
In recent years, as our church has studied the Calendar of God, we believe that He has set specific times and seasons to fast, to pray, and to give. For this reason, 3 years ago, we moved our Chest of Joash offering to align with the Biblical calendar. This is the beginning of the new year in God’s calendar and for this reason we have renamed our offering New Beginnings.
This offering is about equal sacrifice not equal gifts. What is a sacrifice to one may not be a sacrifice to another. God is moved by our love for Him as we give with grateful hearts. We pray the love of God will invade our hearts as we come with pure devotion to the LORD of all Lords! The heavens are open; He is ready to hear from His children!
What Does It Mean to Sow a Seed?
In these teachings and videos, you can find more in-depth understanding of what it means to give an offering into the Kingdom of God. When we sow a seed, there are benefits and blessing that come from bringing the Lord a sacrificial gift. That is the difference between a tithe and offering.
A Tithe & An Offering
Each time the Lord blesses us with increase and income, we bring our tithe back to the store house. When we give out of our heart, out of the abundance, above the 10% tithe we bring, we are giving an offering.
The Power of the Seed
There is a time to sow the seed and a time to reap the harvest. God looks for people He can promote in a famine. Pastor Gene pulls out the life of Joseph, and shows us how God desires to promote His people in a famine. It is through an invitation of obedience and faith that we are able to give, to sow a seed. We encourage you to listen to this teaching on the power of sowing a seed.
Real People. Real Testimonies.
God is faithful to move and meet us when we are faithful to give. These families have seen breakthrough and abundance out of their sacrificial giving. No matter where you are at in your journey of giving with the Lord, we encourage you to listen to these testimonies and see real examples of how God blesses us when we give into the Kingdom of God!
